This is the autobiography of one of India’s foremost authors, Shashi Deshpande. And while she modestly says that her own life is uneventful, it is far from being so. In the pages of her memoir, Deshpande travels back in time, to her childhood in Dharwad, and the years she spent in Bombay and Bangalore. Through her certain and uncertain recollections, we observe her identity as a writer taking shape, just as we see the world changing around her.
